Chestnut Breasted Teal (Anas castanea)

A southern Australia native, the genders are sexually dimorphic with the drake most notably possessing the characteristic deep green head.  Both weigh 1.5 pounds and can share responsibilities of raising the young ducklings.  The hen lays 8-12 rich light-crème eggs and prefers elevated nest boxes and tree cavities.
