Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata)

This breed ranges widely across the northern temperate zones of North America, Europe, and Asia.  Drakes and hens weigh from 1.5-2.0 pounds.  The hen prefers nesting in grassy concealed areas,  primarily along pondside vegetation.  She lays from 9-11 olive green oval eggs.
