Ruddy Duck (Oxyura jamaicensis)
The Ruddy is native to North America and South America. They are sexually dimorphic, seasonally variable. The drake weighs 1.3 pounds, the hen, 1.1 pounds. Hens lay 6-10 dull, chalky-white eggs. They nest in a concealed dome of vegetation near stable water levels or in tunneled, rocky or underground crevices.
